ToneFest is never about making money out of our friends and supporters and the main aim every year is to provide a top quality, fun and memorable weekend for those very people. The cost of such high ambition and attention to detail is high and must be shared with everyone who comes along. However, the last thing we want to do is make money from you for our own gain. With this in mind I decided in 2011, knowing the festival would make a small profit for the first time, that I would feel better of this went to charity.
It is important to point out that ToneFest is not a charity festival and it is always my intention to spend every single penny taken from ticket sales on the festival, on the infastructure, good facilities and most importantly, making sure the artists that play are paid for their efforts! The musicians are just as important as the paying public in my view :-)
All the profit that we do make from our cheap bars, merchandise, raffle and cream teas etc goes to a charity each year and last year we rasied £2,600 for the Youth Cancer Trust www.yct.org.uk. This was matched up to the value of £1,400 by Santander via Lauren as well! So £4,000 was raised in total. Thank you to all those that made this possible. Because this was our first year, I have decided to raise money for YCT again in 2012. They are a fantastic local charity, based in Bournemouth and below is the write up their founder Brenda Clark wrote for our programme in 2011:
